L3 Outdoor First Aid ( 2 Day )

This comprehensive two-day qualification is designed for outdoor

professionals and employees who work in rural or remote environments.

It will enable learners to undertake the role of the First Aider when

emergency medical assistance could be more than 30 minutes away. It will provide learners with the skills and knowledge to respond to a range of emergency outdoor situations including when and how to move a casualty, major illnesses and injuries, administering CPR and managing an unresponsive casualty.

The qualification meets the Outdoor First Aid Band 3 requirements set by the Institute for Outdoor Learning and the requirements for the first aid element of the expedition syllabus for the bronze, silver and gold Duke of Edinburgh awards.

 

Duration                                               

The minimum classroom contact time of 16 hours must be delivered over a minimum of 2 days. The course can be spread over a maximum period of 9 weeks ensuring that each session is a minimum of two hours.

National Water Safety Management Programme 2.0
Water Safety Awareness

Water Safety Awareness - increase your safety around open water.  The ideal award for those that work around the water margins.  I.e. your close to water but don't intend to enter the water.  E.g. Park wardens, school teachers running trips, youth workers etc. Also very good for hazard identification and developing risk management

Course Pre-requisits

Each candidate attending an NWSMP course must: 

  • Be 16 years old or over at the time of being assessed 

  • Have a good level of fitness 

  • Be competent at swimming in open-water environments (for Coastal and Inland Waterways module) 

  • For the assessment, candidates must be able to swim 50m in an open water environment. (for Coastal and Inland Waterways module) 

Water Safety Awareness 

This course is for those working near water as part of a structured activity. The course includes: 

  • Generic Open Water Hazards 

  • Risk Management 

  • Land-based Rescue Techniques  

  • PPE & Aquatic Clothing 

  • Basic Life Support Awareness

Inland Waterways Module

This module focuses on specific inland waterway hazards along with in-water skills.

Coastal Waterways Module 

This module focuses on specific coastal waterway hazards along with in-water skills. 

  • Coastal-specific Hazards

  • Returning to Shore Through Surf 

  • Coastal Wildlife

NUCO - Emergency Outdoor First Aid (8hrs)

The course will provide learners with the skills and knowledge to respond to a range of emergency outdoor situations including summoning assistance, responding to changes in vital signs, administering CPR and blood loss.

The qualification meets the requirements of the Institute for Outdoor Learning band 2 training.

Duration

The minimum classroom contact time of 8 hours must be delivered over a minimum of 1 day.
